Baseball Recap: Metamora Redbirds vs. Dunlap Eagles
Metamora had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-19 to make it four. They fell just short of the Dunlap Eagles by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Monday.
Cole Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Dunlap, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 24 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.
