Baseball Recap: Metamora Takes a Loss

Metamora had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-19 to make it four. They fell just short of the Dunlap Eagles by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Monday.

Cole Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Dunlap, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 24 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

On Dunlap's side, Carter Lippens looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christian Ferrari, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Rennette, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Metamora does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dunlap, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Dixon at 11:00 a.m. The Eagles are facing the Dukes & Duchesses at the right time seeing as the Dukes & Duchesses are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
