Baseball Recap: Schulenburg Falls Short of Centerville in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Schulenburg couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Centerville Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-0 defeat on Friday.

Schulenburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zane Brenek, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was Brenek's first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Schulenburg and nudges their season record down to 24-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Centerville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 28-6-1.

Schulenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centerville, they will take on New Home at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Leopards will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
