Baseball Recap: Donna Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Donna let Edcouch-Elsa stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Donna prevailed anyway. The Redskins won by a run and slipped past the Yellowjackets 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Redskins: when they faced off against the Yellowjackets on Tuesday, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Max Torres looked comfortable as he tossed 0.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Donna's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 4-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Ethan Rincon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronaldo Bocanegra, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Donna hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edcouch-Elsa struck out nine times.

The victory snapped Donna's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-12 record. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Porter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.86 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. Donna will be paying especially close attention to Edcouch-Elsa's contest: after Edcouch-Elsa faces off against Donna, they'll take on Donna again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
