Softball Recap: Fouke Comes Up Short

Fouke extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-5 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Genoa Central Dragons. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one run.

As for Genoa Central, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-9 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 10th.

For Genoa Central's part, Emily McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.

At the plate, Genoa Central's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brenley Ward, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Fouke will take on Nashville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scrappers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Genoa Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
