Preview: Public Safety Academy Phoenix vs. Palm Valley FIREBIRDS
Public Safety Academy is 0-4 against Palm Valley since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Public Safety Academy Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the Palm Valley FIREBIRDS at 5:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Public Safety Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Desert Mirage by a score of 40-31 on Monday.
Meanwhile, Palm Valley took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Joshua Springs Christian 79-8 at home. With Palm Valley ahead 51-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Palm Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Donovan Knott, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Matteo Lam, who scored 24 points along with 3 steals.
Public Safety Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Palm Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Public Safety Academy came up short against Palm Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 56-45. Thankfully for Public Safety Academy, Roman Rickwood (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
