Softball Game Preview: Rockwood Tigers vs. Oakdale Eagles

The Rockwood Tigers will head out to challenge the Oakdale Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockwood has given up an average of 16.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rockwood's last matchup with Oak Ridge could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Tigers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 13-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Oakdale put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Greenback by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6.

Landry Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ava Smith was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Cheyenne Sirmans was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Oakdale pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Rockwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Rockwood might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Oakdale when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
