Basketball Recap: Maurice Carter II and Kaleel Kelly Secure Win for Willow Canyon

Willow Canyon hadn't done well against Centennial recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Willow Canyon Wildcats enjoyed a cozy 81-65 win over the Centennial Coyotes. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Willow Canyon was led to victory by Kaleel Kelly and Maurice Carter II. Kelly dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Carter II went 7 of 12 on his way to 26 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Kelly a new career-high in rebounds. Austin Cooper was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine boards and five blocks.

Willow Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Willow Canyon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.4 points per game. As for Centennial, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8.
