Soccer Game Preview: Peoria vs. Cactus

The Peoria Panthers will face off against the Cactus Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Peoria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Peoria turned things around against Estrella Foothills on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Wolves a 3-0 shutout. The score was close at the half, but the Panthers pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Shamel Sanchez and Orlando Garcia scored all three of Peoria's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Cactus came up short against Agua Fria on Wednesday and fell 4-2. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Owls recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Cactus' loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Peoria, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-9.

Peoria beat Cactus by a goal in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 4-3. Does Peoria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cactus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
