Basketball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Second Baptist

Second Baptist had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They walked away with a 54-42 win over the Bay Area Christian Broncos. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Broncos are ranked 469th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Second Baptist to victory were Grace Wehring and Eloise Tackett. Wehring shot 58% from the field en route to 16 points and six steals, while Tackett dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Wehring has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Baker, who posted nine points.

Second Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2025.

Second Baptist's record is now 19-5. As for Bay Area Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.

Looking ahead, Second Baptist will face off against Lutheran South Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bay Area Christian, they will take on Logos Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
