Baseball Recap: Williamson Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Williamson brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Oswayo Valley Green Wave on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Kohen VanDelinder was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Gabe Crance and Harlow Little did most of the damage at the plate: Crance went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Little got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Little a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xander Stafford, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Williamson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Williamson's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Oswayo Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Williamson will head out to face off against Northern Potter at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oswayo Valley, they will square off against Port Allegany at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Wave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 11.7 runs per game this season.
