Softball Preview: Jennings County Panthers vs. Seymour Owls

Jennings County and Seymour are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Jennings County Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Seymour Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Jennings County came up short against New Albany and fell 6-2. Jennings County has not had much luck with New Albany recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Seymour got the win against Salem on Monday by a conclusive 8-2.

Phoebe Underwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Underwood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Underwood was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Williams was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Jennings County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Seymour, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.

Jennings County couldn't quite finish off Seymour in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 5-3. Can Jennings County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
