Softball Game Preview: South Range Raiders vs. Triway Titans

South Range is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Triway is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Raiders will take on the Titans in a tournament on Wednesday. South Range knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Triway likes a good challenge.

South Range is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Keystone. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Triway hadn't done well against Norwayne recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Titans walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Bobcats. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Lexi Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Triway let Kenzie Gatti and Ashley Braunscheidel run wild. Gatti got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Braunscheidel got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Braunscheidel has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hochstetler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

South Range has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Triway, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

South Range came out on top in a nail-biter against Triway in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
