            Volleyball Recap: Doherty Spartans vs. Lutheran Lions        
        
		
        
        
            Doherty lost against Lutheran back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Tuesday. The Spartans took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 While Doherty ultimately came up short, they really made  Lutheran work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 13-25, 26-24,  25-20.
 Ryan Kaiser paced Doherty's offense, picking up 14 kills. Kaiser got some help from  Elijah Morrison and his 24 assists. Finally,  Chase Zaiger kept Doherty's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
 Among those leading the charge was   Luke Hultberg, who  had 15  digs. Those  15  digs gave  him a new career-high.  Zane Conely also deserves some recognition as  he  had his first  kill of the season.
Doherty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Lutheran, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Doherty will  challenge  rival Discovery Canyon  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lutheran is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Rampart  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
