Softball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

After flying high against West Adams on Wednesday, Jefferson came back down to earth. The Democrats came up short against the Narbonne Gauchos on Friday, falling 20-7.

Brenda Hernandez and Helen Serrano stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hernandez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Serrano got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Narbonne, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-7.

Coming up, Jefferson is taking a road trip to challenge Manual Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Narbonne, they will host Gardena at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Gauchos are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
