Basketball Game Preview: Shelton Bulldogs vs. Giltner Hornets

The Shelton Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Giltner Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Shelton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Shelton beat Blue Hill 62-56.

Shelton had a senior duo take command as Ben Myers dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards and Harper Thober went 6 for 15 on his way to 17 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Myers is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Will Stewart, who posted seven points.

Shelton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Giltner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against Red Cloud, falling 71-21. Having soared to a lofty 60 points in the game before, the Hornets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Giltner's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Shelton, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Everything came up roses for Shelton against Giltner in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the team secured a 70-27 victory. Does Shelton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Giltner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
