Basketball Recap: Harrisonburg HomeSchool Comes Up Short

If Harrisonburg HomeSchool was feeling good fresh off their 94-63 takedown of Chapelgate Christian Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Harrisonburg HomeSchool Lightning were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 70-69 to the Rise Academy Guardians. The Lightning were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Guardians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rise Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevonte Atkins, who posted 20 points along with five assists and five boards. Atkins' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Nathaniel Seaborn was another key player, putting up 20 points and seven rebounds.

Harrisonburg HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Rise Academy, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

Harrisonburg HomeSchool has already played their next matchup (against Rise Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Rise Academy is taking a road trip to face off against TPLS Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rise Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
