Football Recap: Provo Piles Up the Points Against Uintah

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Provo). They claimed a resounding 64-2 victory over the Uintah Utes. The Bulldogs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Provo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gehrig Orchard, who threw for 316 yards and six TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes. What's more, Orchard racked up 157.5 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Another receiver making a difference was Ronnie Wright, who picked up 150 receiving yards and four scores.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Provo proved: they limited Uintah to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Paulo Granado for the heroic effort on defense: he. Provo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

Provo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Julius Pan, Griffin Demartini, and Brexton Hunter picked up one apiece. Demartini also posted 134 receiving yards, which is notable because Provo is undefeated when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Pan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win (which was Provo's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.8 points over those games. As for Uintah, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Provo has already played their next contest, a 69-7 win against Mountain View on the 15th. As for Uintah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-0 defeat against Park City on the 15th.
