Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. NorthWood Panthers

The Fairfield Falcons will challenge the NorthWood Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Fairfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Wawasee a 4-0 shutout. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Grady Garber made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Fairfield: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-14 otherwise.

Garber wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, NorthWood earned a 6-3 win over Columbia City on Saturday.

Fairfield's record now sits at 13-15. As for NorthWood, their record is now 16-10-1.

Fairfield suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to NorthWood in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
