Northwest hasn't had much luck against Church Point recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Northwest will venture away from home to challenge Church Point at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Northwest made easy work of Ville Platte and carried off a 20-2 win. The matchup marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season.

Ethan Jenkins was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases. He has become a key player for Northwest: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-15 otherwise.
In other batting news, Ty Savoy was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aden Wheeler, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2.
Northwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Church Point put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Northside Christian. Church Point blew past Northside Christian 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Caiden B made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. B was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Church Point got a massive performance out of Ethan Little, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Waylon Castille was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Church Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. Northwest's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northwest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Church Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwest beat Church Point 9-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Northwest repeat their success, or does Church Point has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
