Football Game Preview: Archer Tigers vs. Heritage Patriots

The Archer Tigers will challenge the Heritage Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Archer has three straight victories, Heritage has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Archer didn't have too much trouble with South Gwinnett as they won 24-7.

Archer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Do out in front who threw for 195 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Tyree Begne, who gained 109 total yards and a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Archer's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jeffrey Hammonds, Dontae Samuels, and JaDyn Brown, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kevin Gwibuka was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, Heritage had to suffer through a 54-13 loss at the hands of Newton. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Rams are ranked 32nd).

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Archer, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything went Archer's way against Heritage in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Archer made off with a 36-13 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
