Basketball Recap: Grayville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Martinsville last Tuesday, Grayville came back down to earth. The Grayville Bison were dealt a 75-46 loss at the hands of the Waltonville Spartans on Friday. The Bison have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Grayville still got an impressive performance from Zach Leavens, who posted 17 points. The game was Leavens' sixth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Zeke Roosevelt, who had seven points.

Waltonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyle Cooper, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points. Cooper has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Peterson, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 17 points and six boards.

Grayville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Waltonville, their win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Grayville has already played their next matchup, a 79-76 loss against North Clay/Clay City on the 11th. As for Waltonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-36 defeat against Carlyle on the 8th.
