Baseball Game Preview: Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles vs. Anderson Indians

Cambridge City Lincoln is 0-3 against Anderson since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Cambridge City Lincoln will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Cambridge City Lincoln's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Seton Catholic with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Anderson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Richmond. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Red Devils on their field since April 19, 2022.

Branson Hemme was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Hemme was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anderson let Cole Roberts and Kadyn Kendall run wild. Roberts got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Kendall got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Kendall a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Steven Reyes, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richmond only posted an OBP of .289.

The win got Cambridge City Lincoln back to even at 4-4. As for Anderson, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

Cambridge City Lincoln suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Anderson when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
