Recap: Northfield Norsemen vs. Southwood Knights
The Northfield Norsemen won the last time they faced the Southwood Knights, and things went their way on Saturday too. Northfield blew past Southwood 55-34.
Northfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Camryn Kuhn, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hali Pershing, who scored five points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmerson Chellis, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Northfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Southwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Northfield will be playing at home against Lewis Cass at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lewis Cass presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northfield in Indiana (Lewis Cass is ranked 85th, while Northfield is ranked 273rd). Southwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Marion at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Marion is on a five-game streak of home losses, Southwood a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
