Salem kept a clean sheet against Marlington on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dukes 1-0. Given Salem's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Marlington are ranked 383rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salem's one-goal win came courtesy of Karlie Sampson, who's now up to 15 this season.

Salem has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-3 record this season. As for Marlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7-2.
