Softball Game Preview: Murdock Blue Devils vs. Ayer Shirley Panthers

The Murdock Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Ayer Shirley Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Murdock is looking for their season's first victory.

Murdock lost 10-2 to Narragansett Regional on Thursday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ayer Shirley). They had just enough and edged out Bromfield 12-10. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Jocelyn Solitro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Marney Hoeske, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Murdock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ayer Shirley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.

Murdock suffered a grim 23-3 defeat to Ayer Shirley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
