Volleyball Preview: Payson Takes on Springville

The Payson Lions will take on the Springville Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Payson didn't have quite enough to beat Salem Hills and fell 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Payson sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-11, 20-25, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Springville came up short against Spanish Fork on Thursday, falling 3-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Red Devils were not able to get on the board.

While Springville ultimately came up short, they really made Spanish Fork work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-18, 29-27, 25-6.

Payson will have to contain Addi Crandall as she made an impact in Springville's last game. She had 17 assists and 10 digs.

Payson has now lost three of their last four games on the road. That's dealt a heavy blow to their 9-4 record this season. As for Springville, they have been struggling for a while as they've lost 27 of their last 29 games, dating back to last year. That leaves them at a 2-5 record this season.
