Softball Recap: Fountain Central Mustangs vs. Parke Heritage Wolves
Fountain Central extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-17 in the process. They came up short against the Parke Heritage Wolves, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-12 on Saturday.
Fountain Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacquelynn Weber, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Patience Bixler was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple.
As for Parke Heritage, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-16. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26th (when they won 15-2).
On Parke Heritage's side, Aerianna Desmith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. What's more, Desmith posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs.
In other batting news, Birkley Schelsky was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taya Sturmer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Coming up, Fountain Central will square off against South Newton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Parke Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
