Softball Recap: Tuscola Comes Up Short

Tuscola had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-10 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Pisgah Bears. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Mountaineers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Pisgah, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games.

For Pisgah's part, Sadie Messer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Messer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pisgah got a massive performance out of Mack Jones, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Alexis Markos was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Tuscola will challenge rival Smoky Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pisgah is set to face off against their familiar foe East Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
