Basketball Recap: Broadwater Academy Vikings vs. Gateway Christian
There's no place like home for the Broadwater Academy Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Gateway Christian with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 43-25. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Broadwater Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Broadwater Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tatum Watson out in front who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Smith, who scored 13 points.
Gateway Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evalyn Snider, who scored ten points, and Hallie Roth who scored nine points.
Broadwater Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Gateway Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broadwater Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. StoneBridge's defense has only allowed 24.6 points per game this season, so the Vikings' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Gateway Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Portsmouth Christian has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
