Basketball Recap: Blount Comes Up Short

Blount has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Theodore Bobcats. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Leopards who fell 39-36 when the teams previously met back in January of 2024.

Blount's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Heaven Watlington, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amayah Bracy, who posted 12 points.

Theodore found their leader in freshman Parklyn Floyd, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Floyd's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Blount's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8. As for Theodore, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Blount will welcome Murphy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Theodore, they will venture away from home to square off against Saraland at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Theodore is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
