Last Thursday, Carver High School of Engineering & Science was able to grind out a solid win over Paul Robeson, taking the game 60-48. Given Carver High School of Engineering & Science's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Paul Robeson is ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Anthony Brown, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Mcfield, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to String Theory on the road by a decisive 50-32 margin.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Central, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science strolled past Central when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 60-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carver High School of Engineering & Science since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
