Basketball Recap: Monument Academy Comes Up Short

Monument Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Poudre Community Academy Warriors, falling 68-20.

Charlie Dygert was Monument Academy's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Poudre Community Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Swanson out in front who went 10 for 22 en route to 25 points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals Swanson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Heilan Barrick, who posted 16 points and five steals.

Monument Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Poudre Community Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Monument Academy has already played their next match, an 80-24 defeat against Lotus School For Excellence on the 17th. As for Poudre Community Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Centennial on the 17th.
