Baseball Game Preview: Wynne Yellowjackets vs. Highland Rebels

The Wynne Yellowjackets will take on the Highland Rebels at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. Neither Wynne nor Highland posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Wynne is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Palestine-Wheatley just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Highland and Pocahontas, and Pocahontas kept the tradition alive. The Rebels took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redskins on Wednesday. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Redskins recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Trace Hyslip was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Wynne's loss dropped their record down to 15-10-1. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Wynne got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2024 against Highland by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
