Basketball Recap: Canfield Gets the Win

On FridayCanfield's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over the Laurel Gators . Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Gators are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canfield's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Laurel, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canfield will venture away from home to square off against GlenOak at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laurel, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hiland at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hiland will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Laurel surely won't give up without a fight.
