Soccer Recap: Granite City Comes Up Short

Granite City fell victim to Father McGivney Catholic and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. While losing is never fun, Granite City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Father McGivney Catholic are ranked 30th).

Granite City's loss dropped their record down to 2-13-1. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Coming up, Granite City will host St. Mary's South Side at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they are taking a road trip to challenge Althoff Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
