League recap: Etna climbs in state rankings

Etna scaled the state rankings by moving to 816 from 894 this week, the biggest jump in Shasta Cascade. The Lions were able to move up by topping Weed 44-7.

The Cougars lost to Etna 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Aidan Hagarty was a bright spot for Weed, as he threw for 78 yards in the defeat.

Jace Neugebauer provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Fall River fell to Maxwell. He completed 13 passes for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 45 yards. Neugebauer's key target this week was Jonathon Westlund, who caught 4 passes for 124 yards.

Alan Webber threw for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Webber and Brandon Witherspoon gave Modoc a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Devon Wade also contributed to the rushing game with 66 yards on the ground.

5-foot-8 quarterback Neugebauer of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 558. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Ewing. The Modoc star has 12 catches for 266 yards.

The Braves led the league in scoring this week by notching 49 points on Mt. Shasta. Webber in the win.
