Lexington had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jourdanton Indians/Squaws on Thursday, sneaking past 2-0. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Not much got past Taylor Akin, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Jourdanton off the board. Akin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lexington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Bell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Teal Brockenbush also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Lexington's win bumped their record up to 26-8. As for Jourdanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-15.
Lexington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians/Squaws: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
