Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Marauders vs. Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders

The Mitchell Marauders will square off against the Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mitchell took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 42-41 victory over Walsenburg.

Meanwhile, Thomas MacLaren School got the win against James Irwin on Monday by a conclusive 69-45. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Thomas MacLaren School's win came from a few key players Mitchell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nathaniel Stokes, who on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Zoerb-Orta, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Thomas MacLaren School was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Irwin only eight assists.

Mitchell's win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-20. As for Thomas MacLaren School, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
