Basketball Recap: St. John's Takes a Loss

St. John's tournament run continued when they took on Myrtle Beach on Sunday. The Islanders had to suffer through a 66-33 loss at the hands of the Seahawks.

When it comes to explaining why St. John's lost, don't look at Daeshia Buford. Despite the final result, she shot 55% from the field on her way to 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Buford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. Trinitie Sutton was another key player, putting up six points and six steals.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Myrtle Beach, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, St. John's will host Cathedral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Myrtle Beach, they will head out to square off against Aynor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
