Basketball Recap: Roy/Mosquero's Winning Streak Snapped at 17 Games

It was a good run, but Roy/Mosquero unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 61-43 bruising from the Cimarron Rams. The Blue/Lady Blue were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 60-59.

Several Blue/Lady Blue players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ike Smith, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Clavel, who put up 15 points.

Even though they lost, Roy/Mosquero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Roy/Mosquero's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Cimarron, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Roy/Mosquero will face off against Dora at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cimarron, they will square off against Alamo Navajo at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Cimarron's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
