Recap: College Park Cavaliers vs. Caney Creek Panthers
The College Park Cavaliers won the last time they faced the Caney Creek Panthers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. College Park blew past Caney Creek 44-16 on the road. Given College Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Caney Creek is ranked 1247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading College Park to victory were Brooke Smith and Natalia Ibizugbe. Smith scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Ibizugbe dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Smith. The team also got some help courtesy of Tara Mallya, who scored six points.
College Park has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Caney Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
College Park will be home for the holidays to greet Willis at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Willis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday. As for Caney Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Hargrave at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hargrave is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
