Softball Recap: Carrollton Comes Up Short

Carrollton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the United Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 10-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Laiken Spilker was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Paityn Crank, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Carrollton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for United, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season.

Carrollton will challenge Morgan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for United, they will take on Southern in a tournament on Wednesday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.89 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
