Softball Recap: Southside Christian Sabres vs. High Point Academy Grizzlies

Southside Christian lost against High Point Academy back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southside Christian Sabres fell victim to a rough 14-7 defeat at the hands of the High Point Academy Grizzlies. Southside Christian has not had much luck with High Point Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

For High Point Academy's part, Julie Raines made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Raines has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Raines was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kyleigh Lawter and Alyx Creel did most of the damage at the plate: Lawter went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and a stolen base, while Creel scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Isabella Espinal was another key contributor, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for High Point Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
