Soccer Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Halifax County Comets, falling 4-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Halifax County this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in April.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-2. As for Halifax County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5-1.

Martinsville and Halifax County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 309th) will meet Carroll County (ranked 154th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Halifax County will square off against Magna Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (244 vs. 111).
