Baseball Game Preview: Humboldt Vikings vs. Liberty Tech Magnet Crusaders

The Humboldt Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Liberty Tech Magnet Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Humboldt is looking for their season's first win.

Humboldt lost 16-1 to Haywood on Friday.

Humboldt saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Jones, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Liberty Tech Magnet had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Jackson North Side on Friday, falling 23-1.

Ethan Scwheer put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Scwheer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Humboldt's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Liberty Tech Magnet, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-1.

Humboldt couldn't quite finish off Liberty Tech Magnet when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Humboldt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
