Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Godwin walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Louisa County Lions with a sharp 12-2 win on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Cal Travers tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Godwin got a massive performance out of Luke Smyers, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Smyers has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Williams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Godwin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Godwin pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Louisa County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Godwin nor Louisa County have any future games scheduled.
