Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Mission South Raiders vs. Lawrence Free State Firebirds

The Shawnee Mission South Raiders will square off against the Lawrence Free State Firebirds on Friday. Shawnee Mission South will be strutting in after a win while Lawrence Free State will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Shawnee Mission South was fully in charge, breezing past Lawrence 49-20. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Free State was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 66-14 loss at the hands of Olathe South. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Falcons are ranked 34th).

Shawnee Mission South's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Lawrence Free State, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Everything came up roses for Shawnee Mission South against Lawrence Free State when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 73-13 victory.
