Basketball Recap: Tuscola Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Bryce Ferguson and Ace Rogers

Tuscola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 75-54 to the East Henderson Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while the Eagles are ranked 111th).

Tuscola's loss came despite strong showings from Ace Rogers and Bryce Ferguson. Rogers went 6 of 12 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds, while Ferguson went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points. Ferguson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Gavin Chouinard, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Tuscola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Caiden Brewer was his usual excellent self, going 11 of 21 en route to 32 points and five boards for East Henderson. The contest was Brewer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Brewer, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Tuscola's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for East Henderson, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.

Tuscola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-62 defeat against Pisgah on the 4th. As for East Henderson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-41 win against North Henderson on the 4th.
