Basketball Recap: Heritage's Win Ends 12-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Heritage had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Gateway on Tuesday. The Heritage Eagles blew past the Gateway Olympians 56-36. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skylar Peterson, who posted five points and five steals. Peterson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Jumps, who earned seven points and seven rebounds.

Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Heritage's victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Gateway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Heritage has already played their next game (against Smoky Hill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gateway will face off against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
