Football Preview: Oakleaf Knights vs. ED White Commanders
Two dominant signal callers in Jack McKissock and King Boylston are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Oakleaf Knights will face off against the ED White Commanders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Oakleaf's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past First Coast 24-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Knights just coasted through the last quarter.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Oakleaf's defense and their four sacks. Ashnel Louiceus refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Oakleaf got some further help from DeQuan Beecham: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, ED White blew past Sandalwood, posting a 49-6 win. The Commanders have beaten the Saints the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Saints has come to flipping the script.
ED White found their leader in sophomore Boylston, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards and one TD on only five carries. Rontrez Loyd got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 58 yards. 82 of Boylston's passing yards were hauled in by King Mercer.
ED White was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Oakleaf's record now sits at 6-1. As for ED White, their record is now an identical 6-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Oakleaf has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like ED White struggles in that department as they've been averaging 268.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Oakleaf strolled past ED White when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
